MKP on the front page of CNN.com today. Wish it was better press.

I wish they wouldn’t have the opinion that eSports fans tend to find uninformed and therefore unintelligent. Of all the ways they could have gone with this story, they had to choose the one that made the topic sound the most hyped.I don’t think the issues they discussed weren’t real, but I think the way the opinions were structured created a false image of progaming being a pipe dream for anyone who wants to pursue it as a career, and that just isn’t true at all. There have been people who play video games until they die because they are addicted or because they just don’t take care of their bodies and the same exact thing can be said about regular sports and hobbies. The real difference is the mainstream media has geared our thinking that video games are an unacceptable way to spend your life because they are unproductive. Now that progaming is sustainable and that is no longer true, we have to stop putting that false image out there and start looking at the reality of gaming. And if you ask me, I don’t think CNN will have a writer who has the foreknowledge about this topic to cover it properly and that is a shame. This is a prime example of one of the things holding eSports back in foreign culture.

Yea, while the article could be totally have written in a constructive manner, it isn’t so.Honestly, coming right after the Olympics, it feels mocking. It’s like “HEY GUYS LOOK OVER HERE. THEY THINK IT’S A “SPORT” BUT THEY’RE ACTUALLY JUST ADDICTED.” rather than giving any credit, or making esports such as SC2 sound like legit activities.
